Sony has been quite for some time now, they were not ready to disclose the date on which the successor to it’s successful handheld gadget “PSP” would release in parts other than Japan. The PS Vita, Sony’s next-generation handheld gaming system will go on sale in the U.S., Europe, Canada and Latin America on Feb. 22 of next year, just over two months after it goes on sale in Sony’s home country.
Sony has alot to prove with their new gadget. The predecessor to its “PSP” series,PSP GO didn’t really go the way sony thought it would. Failing to impress the critics and the fans,it was just a major let down and Sony has been trying not to repeat their mistakes by putting in all their effort in to bringing the PSP back in business. Their biggest competitor in the handheld business is undoubtedly Nintendo’s 3Ds. Which was launched early this year. Nintendo was really keen to see the 3Ds do better than they expected but it failed to so,Nintendo had to drop the price of its newly released 3Ds by 70$ just after 4 months of launch,
Sony is not risking anything, they have some of the biggest gaming franchise’s out there on the PS Vita. It will have an array of titles from Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed and Call of Duty. Although,Sony kept silence when asked about when these games would be available to PS Vita buyers.
The Vita’s Wi-Fi model will cost $250, while the 3G-enabled/Wi-Fi model will run $300. Sony is not considering dropping the price at all.
“We packed so much into the device and made it very affordable,” said Sony Corp. Executive Vice President Kazuo Hirai. “There is no need to lower the price just because somebody else that happens to be in the video game business decided that they were going to lower their price.”
The system will feature a 5-inch OLED touch-screen display (OLED is a substantially brighter and clearer display panel than LCD or LED) as well as a rear touch panel, WiFi and 3G wireless connectivity, motion sensors, rear and front-facing cameras and dual analog sticks.
